Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

A. Type of Contribution

Jurnal Ternak promotes the sound development of animal agriculture in Indonesian and other tropical regions of the world by the publication of original research papers. The papers should not have been previously published or is not being considered for publication elsewhere.

 

B. Preparation and Submission of a Manuscript

B.1.    General Rules

 

a.

Manuscripts should be written in English. Authors whose native language is not English are strongly advised to have their manuscripts checked by an English specialist colleague before submission. The journal will check the manuscript submitted at a nominal cost invoiced to the author(s).

Manuscripts are written by an author

Manuscripts should be typed on one side of the paper and in a 1-column format with double spacing throughout.

d.

The lines at all pages should be numbered in the left margin, beginning with number 1 (one) on the first page's top. Paper size is A4, and a 3.0 cm margin of the page is desirable.  Use the font “Palatino Linotype” 10 pt.

e.

Manuscripts should not occupy more than 8 pages in length of the journal sheet (14-18 pages of manuscript).

f.

All tables and figures should be typed on separate pages and numbered according to their text sequence.

g.

Standard International (SI) units should be used. Weights and measures should be expressed in the metric system and temperatures in the Celsius scale.

h.

Files should be saved in the format of the word processing software “word for windows” or “open text document.”

i.

Manuscripts should be submitted to the web site (http://jurnalpeternakan.unisla.ac.id/index.php/ternak/index).

j.

Manuscripts that do not fulfill the requirements will not be processed any further.

 

B.2. Manuscripts Structure.

In general, Manuscripts should be organized in the following order: Title, Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgements (optional), and References.  These major headings should be typed in bold capital letters and set in the center of the page. The manuscript should be written according to this template.

 

TITLE. The title of the paper consists of no more than 20 words.  Abbreviations are not permitted in the title. The title is followed by the name of the authors and the complete institution address.  When a paper has several authors from different institutions, the contact author should be given.  A running head (an abbreviated title consisting of no more than 55 characters) should also appear above the title.

 

ABSTRACT. The abstract is written in Indonesian and in English. The abstract consists of no more than 200 words.  It starts with a clear statement of the experiment's objectives, followed by materials and methods, results, and an important conclusion. References are never cited in the abstract. Abbreviations that appear in the abstract should be defined when they are first used. At the end of the abstract, list up to 5 (five) keywords in alphabetical order that best describes the research's nature.

 

INTRODUCTION. The introduction should provide the readers with the information necessary for understanding the research presented in the paper.  Previous work on the topic should be summarized, and the objective of the current research should be clearly stated.

 

MATERIALS AND METHODS. The section of materials and methods should include a discussion of statistical analysis methods and specific equipment sources.  All modifications of the methods should be explained.

 

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. Results and discussion sections may be combined, or they may appear in a separate section.  In the case of being separated, the Results section should contain only the current author’s study results. There should be no literature comparisons. Those comparisons should appear in the Discussion section. The discussion should interpret the results clearly.

 

CONCLUSION. The conclusion should be written a maximum of 100 words. The recommendation can be added.

 

REFERENCES. All publications cited in the text should be presented in a list of references in chronological order. Use the following system for arranging the references:

TABLES. On tables, no vertical line is used, and each term should begin with a capital letter.  Any important explanation to the tables' understanding should be given as a footnote at the bottom of the table.  All tables should be explained in the text.

 

FIGURES. Figures should be drawn on white papers, and lines should be less than 1 mm wide.  The left vertical and bottom horizontal lines are used.  All the figures should be numbered in consecutive order.  Legends should be made outside of the figure.

 

TEXT CITATION RULE. In the paper's body, refer to the author as follows: Smith and Jones (2005).  If the sentence structure requires the author’s name to be included in parentheses, then the proper format (Smith and Jones, 2005; McDonald, 2007) is used.  Use “et al.” following the first author when there are more than two authors but give all the authors the references. More than one article listed in the same sentence of the text should be in chronological order and alphabetical order for two publications in the same year. Citation from the internet is acceptable for references having Digital Object Identifier (d.o.i).

 

PROOF. The authors are advised to pay attention to check the proof sheet.  Proof must be sent back to the Editorial Office within 1 week of receipt. If this period is exceeded, the Editorial Office's proofs will be rechecked without the author’s correction.

 

C. Miscelenaous

c.1. The author will be charged in the following expenses:

      (1) Revising English when the Editorial Board regards it necessary.

      (2) Typesetting and printing of the portion of the text exceeding the length prescribed in the Item B.1.e.

c.2. The current charge is IDR 690.000.00 for an article decided to publish.
